ENSPRYNG Injection Training Video
Narrator: How to self-administer ENSPRYNG. ENSPRYNG is indicated for the treatment of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) in adult patients who are anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody positive.
Narrator: Today, we’re going to review how to self-administer ENSPRYNG.
Narrator: An adult patient or caregiver may inject ENSPRYNG after receiving proper training from a healthcare professional.
Narrator: For important safety information, please see the end of the video. We encourage you to watch this video more than once.
Narrator: If you have any questions, please talk to your healthcare provider or refer to the ENSPRYNG Instructions for Use, which provides more detailed information.
Narrator: The Preparation
Narrator:
Let’s get started. Take the box containing your ENSPRYNG syringe out of the refrigerator.
Check the expiration date on the back of the box and the seal on the front of the box. If the date is past or the seal is broken, do not use.
Dispose of the syringe per the instructions for use and contact your healthcare provider.
Open the box. Gently lift the syringe by the barrel and pull it out.
Check the expiration date on the syringe. The liquid should be clear and colorless to pale yellow. Some small bubbles are normal. If the syringe is damaged or expired, or the liquid is cloudy, discolored, or has particles in it, do not use.
Place the syringe on a clean, flat surface, set a timer for 30 minutes and let it come to room temperature. Keep it away from heating sources; do not warm up the syringe in direct sunlight, in a microwave, or with hot water.
While you wait, you can gather the supplies you need for the injection: 1 alcohol pad, 1 sterile cotton ball or gauze, and 1 small bandage.

Narrator:
First, wash your hands with soap and water.
Next, choose an injection site on your body.
The front or middle of your thighs, here, or the lower part of your stomach, here are good spots. Do not inject through clothing. Do not inject into moles, scars, bruises or areas where the skin is tender, red, hard or broken. The site should not be within 2 inches of your belly button.
Where you inject must be at least 1 inch away from where you last injected.
Next, wipe the injection site with an alcohol pad. Let it air dry, and do not touch it.
If you need help with the injection, ask a friend, family member, or caregiver to assist you.
Are you ready? Taking a deep breath can help you focus.
Take the cap off the needle and immediately dispose of it in an FDA-approved sharps disposal container. Use the syringe within 5 minutes, or the needle may clog. Do not touch the needle or let it touch any surfaces. Keep it away from children.
Hold the barrel of the syringe using your thumb and index finger. With your other hand, pinch the area of the skin you have cleaned. Use a quick, dart-like motion to insert the needle at an angle between 45 to 90 degrees. Do it just once. Let go of the pinched skin.
Then slowly inject the medicine by gently pushing the plunger all the way down.
Gently release the plunger.

The needle shield should now cover the needle. If not, dispose of it carefully.
Check the injection site: do not worry if there’s a little bleeding or drop of medicine. You can press a cotton ball or gauze on it, but do not rub it. If needed you can cover it with a small bandage. If the medicine comes in contact with your skin, wash with water.
That’s it. You did it. Now all you have to do is clean up.
Narrator: The Clean-Up
Narrator:
Immediately place the used ENSPRYNG syringe in an FDA-approved sharps disposal container, not in your household trash, per the Instructions for Use.
Over time the container will fill up, so make sure you dispose of the used sharps disposal container as instructed by your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
